Additional Information

This Arts & Culture Vibrant Storefront is funded by the City of Minneapolis Arts & Cultural Affairs Department with support from Minneapolis Foundation.
The Cruise icon, wordmark and website has been designed by the generous genius of Cina Associates — Michael Cina and Calvin LaBrie.
The name Cruise references Mardi Gras Krewe societies and Carnival traditions along the Mississippi River and the Gulf Coast. As an ethos, Krewe connects Minneapolis to cities along the big river through mutual aid, self-reliance, and expressions of regional fortitude. These traditions include local collaborative models like the St. Paul Winter Carnival — established in the 1880s to assert the creative energy of the capital. Local legend and creative force Chris Pennington coined the moniker as an early partner in Cruise.
